What The Hell Is Wrong With The Catholic Blogosphere?

As I have written in earlier posts, I have come to the point of pretty much ignoring the Catholic blogosphere. This is despite the fact that many Catholic bloggers don't identify themselves only as Catholic. They call themselves the most loyal of Catholics. In fact, many of them believe they are the only real Catholics left. All of those "other people" occupying the seats in the Church are fake and don't know the first thing about what it means to be a REAL Catholic. In the eyes of many Catholic bloggers, all of those "other people" are great sinners headed to hell.

Catholic bloggers always seem to be on the attack.  It is difficult to find positive posts from Catholic bloggers.  Every so often a positive post pops us, but there is almost always a message in there implying how on track and one with God the blogger is and how off track and headed to hell the rest of the world is.

Ironically, the Catholic blogosphere's favorite attack target is . . . THE CATHOLIC CHURCH!  Oh, but don't misunderstand.  The Catholic Church they are attacking is actually that great false Church which really wants to destroy Catholicism.  And who personifies this great false Church?  Why, none other than that evil man in white himself, Pope Francis, and all of his lackey bishops.  They are the true enemy of everyone who is good and decent which, of course, is the Catholic blogosphere and those who agree with them.

Below are actual titles from just a few "Catholic" blogs:

I just can't imagine that anyone who is considering becoming a Catholic or returning to the Church would feel the least bit inspired by the Catholic blogosphere. Who wants to be a part of such a corrupt church, as portrayed by the Catholic blogosphere, filled with evil bishops and an even more evil pope who actually want to destroy that church?

And who wants to be part of a church filled with people who do nothing but point fingers and make accusations against anyone and everyone who doesn't think exactly like they do? Isn't the Church founded by Jesus Christ suppose to be one of love and mercy? Isn't the Gospel about Jesus Christ coming not to condemn the world to save it? Not according to the Catholic blogosphere, who feel it is their mission to condemn everyone.

In yesterday's Mass readings, we were told by Jesus Christ that we are the salt and light of the world. The purpose of salt, as Jesus Christ said, is to season food to bring out the full taste. Once a person tastes something so enjoyable to the senses, he will want more. The Catholic blogosphere leaves only a bad taste that makes you want to spit it out.

Jesus told us that we are also lights for the purpose of shining before others "so that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father."  The Catholic blogosphere, with all of their angry rhetoric and damning accusations, brings only darkness and hate.

I know I have alluded to all of this before, but since the Catholic blogosphere continues on their misguided mission, to put it in the nicest terms possible, I feel it is important to once again point out how damaging they actually are, and that they are actually in opposition to the great commission given to the Church of bringing the world to Jesus Christ.

I pray that the Catholic blogosphere will one day come to the realization that they are not serving Jesus Christ, but that in their attempts to destroy what they consider to be the great false Church, they are actually serving the devil.  If their energies could be turned in the right direction, if they could learn to love instead of hate, if they could learn to walk with people instead of condemn them, if they truly could become the salt and light of the earth, they could set the world on fire, as St. Teresa of Avila told us.

In the meantime, they are just sound and fury, signifying nothing.

    1. These are interesting links. I see they are from a few years ago. The first article about Voris is interesting in that the author seems to support Voris in some ways. I personally don't know how it is possible for a Catholic to support a man who makes a career out of bashing the Church.

  3. I think you have read enough of my blog to know how I feel about Father Martin. I think he is doing a great job. I really need to write a post about this to fully explain it because I know he is pretty much condemned everywhere else. Doesn't surprise me at all that Voris would condemn him.

    1. I hope you will do that soon. I too have seen a lot of vitriol directed at Father Martin, and can't really figure out what's going on!
